This portrait of Indian activist and writer Arundhati Roy was published in Atlantic's July/August 2017 issue. The illustration depicts 3 causes she fought for: the Naxalists she marched through the jungle with, the villages flooded by the governments dams, and she sits in the Polkhran desert nuclear testing site as a reference to her opposition of India's nuclear activity.
